PLEASE NOTE:  Conference Day 1 & Day 2 are at capacity.  Washington State 2019 Conference on Suicide Prevention in Postsecondary Education & Training Day April 15 & 16, 2019 | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM | University of Washington - Haggett Hall, Cascade Room  Attendance is free; registration is required. Attendees must be affiliated with Washington state postsecondary institutions. We will provide certificates for attendees who participate in the entire session to use in applying for CEs in their profession.  4/15 Conference: Featuring keynote speaker Ben Locke, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Collegiate Mental Health and CAPS at Penn State University, this conference will encompass topics on suicide prevention and mental health promotion that are applicable to four- and two-year institutions, as well as vocational schools.  4/16 Training Day: The trainings are designed for faculty and staff. Option 1: Forefront Suicide Prevention LEARN® "Train the Trainer" Workshop (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) | This track is best suited for individuals with a strong background in suicide prevention. After completion, participants will be prepared to lead LEARN® trainings at their institution. Note: Option 1 is an all day training and cannot be combined with the options below.  Option 2: Veterans Specific Needs (8:30 am - 12:00 pm) | This track will cover military culture and the culture shock that may occur when veterans are adapting to student life.  Option 3: Culturally Responsive Approaches (1:00 pm - 4:30 pm) |  This track will explore culturally responsive ways to address mental health and suicide prevention for students.  Who Should Attend All Washington state postsecondary institutions are welcome, including career colleges and programs. Sessions will be available for institutions that do not currently offer suicide prevention resources to students. Who should attend: Teams of Student Services Leaders and Staff, Faculty, Counselors, and Student LeadersCampuses are asked to register teams of no more than 8 members. Parking and Travel Accommodations Parking: The UW Campus offers parking at $15 per day.  Public Transportation: The UW Campus is conveniently located near several King County Metro bus stops, and includes a Link Light Rail Station on campus.  Hotel Accommodations: Silver Cloud - University District Conveniently located within walking distance from Haggett Hall, the Silver Cloud - University District, is reserving rooms at a discounted rate.  To make a reservation, please call 1.800.205.6940 and indicate group name (WA State 2019 Conference on Suicide Prevention in Postsecondary Education) for special rate.
